6 REASONS WHY PRO-CHOICE IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

Abortion is not a light topic for anybody regardless of their stance. Heavily weighed with moral, religious and ethical anchors, it’s becoming increasingly impossible to hear a calculated argument that doesn’t erupt into conflict. In response to my own frustrations, I’ve compiled my most convincing arguments towards the pro-choice movement into a somewhat informal essay.

LET’S TALK ABOUT STREET HARASSMENT

It’s not that every single compliment we receive as women walking down a street has violent, predatory undertones; it’s the fact that when it does happen, we are defenseless due to the stigma that it’s “just a compliment” that we should go out of our ways to accept. What commences as a one-off compliment from a stranger accumulates into a lifetime of tiring rejection walking the tightrope of guarding yourself without being endangered.

However childish it may seemingly appear to look up to a pop star’s recovery as a source of inspiration for motivation when battling my own mental health, it has helped. Daily light-hearted reminders like the 2007 meltdown are a less daunting spin on reminding myself that things are alright and that there is always another day to bounce up on when things are seeming like they’re falling apart.
